I am trying to find if Mia is a real name with Scandinavian and Danish origins or if Mia is only used as a nickname for other names. My wife and I named our daughter Mia, and since have learned that most people who go by Mia use it only as a nickname. We are very concerned that we may have made a big mistake. Any one who can help us learn if Mia is used as a name by itself, and the history of the name would be very helpful.
