What do you think of the name Severine for a girl? How do you pronounce it? Would be Vivienne and Severine as a sibset to "frenchy"?
Right now i would love the name Severine Malou for a sister of Vivienne Claire. What do you think? Better ideas?

I don't like it. It seems, well, severe. My initial impression was to say SEH-veh-reen, but I wonder if it's actually SEH-veh-rin. I would think Vivienne and Severine together would be rather "frenchy," but that's not bad if that's what you like. I like Vivienne more with other French names than with non-French names.

I'm with lac. If I were a guy, I wouldn't want to date a girl called Severine. Sorry ... it's pretty on paper, but the word "sever" gives a very vivid image, and I can't separate the word from the sound of the name.

I like the sound of it. I wouldn't call it pretty, but I do like it. It's strong and dark (but not just colorwise, personality-wise too). I actually think Vivian and Severine would go much better together. Vivian matches it in that "dark and strong" feeling, except it has a brighter magical feel to it. Vivienne is light and gentle and frilly and doesn't go with Severine at all for me.
But when you pair Malou with it, it now has somehow become cutesy! How does that happen? It goes perfectly with Vivienne Claire now. Ha.

Yes, Severine and Vivienne are too Frenchy for a non-French family, IMO. There are also too many Vs in the sibset.
Severine Malou is a surprisingly cute combo, even though I don't like Severine. Vivienne Claire is nice though I don't much like Vivienne either, as I'm not a fan of V names.

I love that it's the French-feminine of Severus...I love any name related to Severus, since Severus is my favorite name! And I think that Severine is so beautiful, and I could see it on someone of any age, especially a young girl. And no, it's not too Frenchy, seeing as Vivienne is already kind of popular and more beautiful than Vivian, and Severine is such an obscure name that no one will care. And even if it is too frenchy, you'll still have the world's most beautiful sib-set.
Although I do think you could go with a better name than Malou...I don't know where that comes from, and it kind of undermines the beauty and maturity of Severine...you need something that complements it better...Elisabeth? Marie? Louise? Jehanne? Charlotte? Francoise? Honoree?

Hmm, Severine Jehanne looks kinda nice...but i have absolutely no idea how to pronounce Jehanne.
Severine Louise, Severine Charlotte and Severine Francoise are also very nice, and they all fits quite well to Viviennes MN Claire.
I somehow would like Severine Charlotte cause this way her MN would also starts with a C.
Oh, and i'd choose Malou cause i thought it would give stern Severine a more playful touch.

I guess the reason why I like Sévérine so much is that, at first glance, the name looks so "light" and feminine and playful - but it has sort of a hard core. Which makes it a very strong name for me.
So how about choosing a middle name that is just the opposite?
That being said, I like Severine Charlotte.
I'd also like Sévérine Nadège, but that's probably way too French, right?

I didn't even know Nadège was a name, and I've never heard it before...Do you even know its origin or meaning? And it's really okay to be overly French with middle names...French names are beautiful...they're slips of the tongue...they flow very well...that's why French names are used more often than English names as middle names...Louise, Marie, Elisabeth...they sound better to many than Louisa, Mary, or Elizabeth as middle names...even if the English equivalents are prettier, French names make better filler names.

Nadège is the French equivalent of Nadezhda (meaning hope), a girl in my students' hall of residence was called that name. Well, that was in Brittany, so it might be a Breton name (but actually, I don't think so).
I agree, French names make great middle names. It's just that some might be a little complicated to pronounce. I don't know, is Nadège easy or at least ok to pronounce?

Frankly, I always get confused with Russian short forms and diminutives ;-)
Is Nadia the short form of Nadezhda or the diminutive, or is it the other way round? Anyway, one is either the diminutive or the short form of the other one ;) And Nadège is the equivalent of Nadezhda.

Jehanne was the real name of Joan of Arc...at least that's how she signed her name. Jehanne is a much older French form of Johanna. If you can pronounce the French Je, which is a soft j, or the zh sound, and Han, which is like the h sound with the word on, you've got it! Or, you can also pronounce that last e as in the a in Louisa.

I like Severine. A lot. I pronounce it uhm "frenchy", as you put it: Seh-veh-REEN. I don't know if meanings are important to you but as Sévérine has quite a harsh, stern meaning, I personally would choose a middle name with a more "delightful", "playful" one.
