Well, this is one of those names that I've wanted to like but never really did. It would be like naming a person Pegasus or Unicorn or Minotaur. But if I hd to use it I'd probably use it on a girl, mostly because I love the nn Nix or Nixy on a girl.

I like it for a male or for a female, and especially on a person. The only Phoenix I've met is a dog, though.
