[Opinions] Joel and Noel
I met a guy the other day named Joel (Jo-el). I've never even thought about pronouncing it that way until then which is weird because one of my sister's middle names is Noel (No-el). I've seen several posts on here with people saying they like Noel for a boy pronounced Nole. I guess it makes sense that Joel and Noel would be pronounced the same, but I pronounce Joel like Jole and Noel like No-el. How would you pronounce each of them and do you prefer Noel on a boy or a girl? Hopefully that made sense.

Noel I'd say Nole. Noël and Noelle I'd say no-ELLE. Joel I say Jole. I prefer Nole (I also say, like, nowull and jowull, but nole and jole makes more sense) on boys, Noelle on girls, and Noël on either gender.
Much prefer Noel on a boy. Noel is boy, Noelle girl.
Noel - No-el (Noelle - No-ELLE)
Joel - Jo-el (Joelle - Jo-ELLE)
Noel - No-el (Noelle - No-ELLE)
Joel - Jo-el (Joelle - Jo-ELLE)
I've never heard Joel pronounced Jo-el. Odd. That's how you'd say Joelle, as in the feminine form. I don't like Joel anyway. It only makes me think of an annoying bully type of guy.
I really like Noel though (pronounced NOL). I wouldn't pronounce it No-el unless it were spelled Noël. I'd pronounce it that way for a girl, but spelled Noelle. Noel is masculine and the two syllable pronunciation sounds feminine.

I think that Noel is pronounced no-EHL when it`s on girls, and particularly when spelled Noelle. The original French word is pronounced that way, but it has those two little squares over the "e".
Joel is slurred to JOHL most of the time, but in other languages it is jo-EHL. Again, if you add the little squares, that will make it 2-syllabled.
