Twist: Many things have happened over the last 5 years. About 3 years ago you moved to Italy, France, or Spain (house would be 5 bedroom, 3 bath in each). Which one did you move to and why? About a month after you moved you rushed your second oldest to the hospital. Her heart is failing and they put in a pacemaker. How does that make you feel? After a month she recovers perfectly but that is not the end of your troubles, soon you get a call from home saying that your niece’s parents are going to jail for child abuse. The court wants you to take her in. When you go to bring her home you find her bruised, with a broken rib. How does that make you feel? How does she get along with your children? Well, we have been to Italy before, we went on our honeymoon. And we loved it there so we always wanted to go back but we never got the chance after the kids were born. So when Thomas got a job offer for either Italy or France we decided on Italy right away. The kids were bouncing off the walls when we told them!
About a month after you moved you rushed your second oldest to the hospital. Her heart is failing and they put in a pacemaker. How does that make you feel?
It makes me feel bad because we JUST got here and he can't exactly enjoy it with us. Though he is doing better with the pacemaker it still leaves empty please because he changed a lot after that. And he loves sports too but now he can't play because of this.

Wow, umm. Well, lets see. We were fine with it though mad at her parents. We made sure she was healing fine and even though she was in pain she was fine too.
How does she get along with your children?
She's getting along fine with everybody. She still loves her parents and asks when she gets to see them. I guess she feels like shes just a guest at our home.

Alex and I have always been travel fanatics but with the kids being born so early in our marriage, we were never able to go anywhere. So when Alex was offered a job opportunity in Europe we jumped at it. He had the chance to go to either Spain or France, and after a long talk we agreed on Spain because of our common ancestral roots there.
About a month after you moved you rushed your second oldest to the hospital. Her heart is failing and they put in a pacemaker. How does that make you feel?
Lina is our angel and to see this happening to our little girl was devastating. We're getting through this and I couldn't even begin to explain how thankful I am to have been able to save my baby.
After a month she recovers perfectly but that is not the end of your troubles, soon you get a call from home saying that your niece’s parents are going to jail for child abuse. The court wants you to take her in. When you go to bring her home you find her bruised, with a broken rib. How does that make you feel?
I couldn't even believe it. When Jacob (Alex's brother) and his wife got divorced, she vouched for full custody of Samantha Garcia and my brother-in-law lost his daughter. After he lost his battle to cancer, Jacob's ex-wife got remarried and it was only after we adopted Samantha (now Jayla) that we learnt her mother and step-father were raging alcoholics who frequently neglected and abused the poor child. We were more than angry and hoped that she would be able to fully recover in our care.

We were helped in finding a house (a nice villa in Lombardia) and learned as much Italian as we could. When we arrived, we instantly fell in love with the scenery, the people, the culture.

We weren’t settle into our new home for long when Alex became gravely ill. At first, we thought it was a cold but the symptoms progressed and his breathing became extremely labored. His fever was extremely high and he was having real trouble breathing. We rushed him to the emergency room and after extensive tests we were told that Alex was going into heart failure and needed surgery to insert a pacemaker in his heart. “He will be fine,” the Italian doctor assured us as they wheeled my baby into the O.R. At this point, I wish we were home, in the States. At least I wouldn’t have to stumble upon my words when trying to talk to the Italian doctors and nurses. I was frustrated, scared and a nervous wreck.

She and Andrew are best of friends. She looks up to Leah for support (typically emotional). And even Sarah (the one who seems to cause all the fights) loves to be with her.
