I had this name on my German boys name list for a long time and always liked it, but it's been popping back in my head a lot recently. My German teacher actually mentioned this name the other day. I forget who he was talking about. Maybe just a German friend of his. It kind of reminds me of a punk band member, but also sounds traditionally German and somewhat distinguished to me. So what do you think? What do people who live in Germany have to say about it also? Is it popular there?

Do you like the combo Ingo Joseph? Can you suggest any others?

I guess Ingaret would be completely off the table though if I ended up naming a son Ingo first. I doubt I'd have enough kids to end up with both anyway though. Today I'm not too excited about Ingaret, but that could change tomorrow.

I didn't even realize this was a name. My only experience with Ingo is as the name of a planet in a Star Wars book I read.

I immediately thought of the movie "The Princess Pride" (though the character is Indigo and not Ingo); phoenetically, almost the same. It's not really my style but it's not horrific by any means.

I don't particularly care for it. It reminds me of bingo and Ringo Starr. I'm from the U.S., so I'm not familiar with the name or its usage.

Ingo is not popular anymore at all. It's very middle-aged. I'd think it very strange to see it on a baby, but these kinds of names are becoming popular again for some reason, so I guess it shouldn't be so surprising to see a little Ingo. It reminds me of a fisherman with a long beard wearing rubber boots. Hmpf. I like Joseph (if it's pronounced the English way, that is) but together with Ingo it all seems too dated in my opinion.

Ha I kind of like the idea that it would seem old and dated in Germany, but new and fresh in America. And it could come back in style there.
