Queen Aurelia became pregnant with her second child and again the kingdom rejoiced and wonder whether the child would be a another prince or a lovely princess! The first months of the pregnancy the queen glowed, but as she advanced she began to look sullen and ill. She confined herself to her quarters, not wanting her subjects to see her in such a state, and the king worried day and night. The finest doctors came from across the kingdom, but the queen continued to ail despite their herbs and blood-letting. Her child was delivered 6 weeks early, and while the child thrived, the mother remained dying in bed. Early one morning, however, she awoke feeling the smallest bit better from the day before. Not well, but better. At that moment the days began getting bright as the queen began to regain her strength. Doctors warned, however, that the queen might never be able to have another child. She wept in secret, for she had always longed for a large family, but the king assured her that they would be very happy as a family of 4 and that they already had an heir to their kingdom, so she needn't worry. In the back of his mind, however, he did fear what would become of the kingdom if something were to happen to young Prince Frederik. . .
