[Opinions] Eulalie
What do you think of the name Eulalie? I used to really like it (after reading the poem by Edgar Allan Poe), then I started to think it sounds silly (anything that could get you Lalie or Lala as a nickname isn't good), but now I really like it again. Do you like it? What image does this name give you? Can you think of any good combos with it?

I love Eulalie.

I don't like the initial "Eu" sound, but the lalie that follows it up has a sprightly ring to it. Still, I just can't help but associate Eulalie with old people. That's fine if you're going for a traditional feel, but bad if "traditional" brings to mind wrinkles and dementia. Eulalie Josephine

Love it. It's got retro-charm written all over it.I've heard it pronounced various ways, so I'm a little intimidated by it. "YOO-lah-lee" in UK, "yoo-LAY-lee" in Southern US and "yoo-LAH-lee." Other? This is one of the few times when I dislike the UK pronunciation of a name.I can't really come up with mns for it until I know how you are pronouncing it. But I'd love to try.ETA: When will I learn to read the other posts first?I see you've already answered this question. So. Using the "yoo-LAH-lee" pronunciation, how about:Eulalie Sophia
Eulalie Frances
Eulalie Cornelia
Eulalie Antonia
Eulalie Victoria
Eulalie Jane
Eulalie Charlotte
Eulalie Martine
Eulalie Gwendolen
Eulalie Diana
Eulalie Cora
Eulalie Justine
Eulalie Flora / Fleur
Eulalie Violet
Eulalie Thora

I want to like Eulalie, I really do, but I just can't wrap my brain around the "lalie" part. I stumble over the two 'l' sounds. I much prefer Eugenie or even Eugenia, but I'm sure that doesn't help you at all.

I prefer Eulalia. Eulalie sounds too much like Eukelele. I do worry that Eulalia is a bit funny sounding because it's so L heavy. You might also like the ancient Roman name Lollia. It's one of my favorites but also has a problem- it starts with LOL.

Reminds me of the word 'echolalia' (which I love the sound of, but the meaning isn't so good), and also a character from 'The Neverending Story' (but I can't think of the character's actual name right now). I like it, although I like Eulalia much more. Eulalie feels like it ends on the wrong note somehow. I love the nn Lala though, so cute (are you worried about the teletubby? Or that 'lala' can mean 'crazy?' I don't think either one is really a problem.)
I think it has an awesome meaning too.
Question: How are you pronouncing it? The BtN profile has it as you-LAY-lee, but I'd say you-LAH-lee (or maybe oh-lah-LEE if you're going for the French prn).BTW, I love your sig, makes me smile every time!

I say you-LAH-lee - I'm not sure what the French pronunciation sounds like. I'll have to ask my French teacher how to say "Euro" in French and work the pronunciation from there. (Asking how to say "Eulalie" might sound a bit random.) Eulalia is too long-winded for me.
