[Opinions] Tessa
I just found out I'm having a girl and I'm due in September.
My husband and I agree on the name Tessa but I feel like it might be too cutesy on an adult. I was thinking that we could use it as a nickname for Teresa. Is that too far fetched?

Congrats. Tessa is a lovely name. I think it works just fine as a name on its own, but I also like it as a nn for Theresa. My cousin's friends are called Annabel and Theresa, but they always go by Annie and Tess, which I think is lovely. Either way, you can't go wrong so go with what you like best. Good luck.

I'm sure this has been said already, but Tess and Tessa are nns for Teresa. She'd have the best of both worlds, imo.

I think its fine. Maybe Theresa or Teresa could be a good full name for it though.

Tessa was originally a nickname for Teresa, so no, I don't think it's too far-fetched at all. I think I prefer Tessa on its on though. It's not too cutesy for an adult.

I believe Tessa is a fairly common nn for Teresa. At least, I know of two or three Teresas who go by Tessa or Tess.

Tessa or Tess is a pretty normal nn for Teresa. I like all three names. Tessa doesn't seem too cutesy to me. Either way would be fine, imo.

I think Tessa ages quite well actually. It's very pretty and Tess is a very mature nn that I have seen on adults. That said, it can definitely work as a nn for Teresa. Don't use Teresa unless you really like it though. Whichever you pick will serve her well in life. Congratulations!

I agree that Tessa is too cutesy and I find it rather imature sounding. I prefer Teresa with Tessa as a nickname and I know a Teresa who is called Tessa by her siblings. Although, I greatly dislike it when the formal name is chosen because of a nickname. My boyfriend's name was chosen because his parents wanted a certain nickname for him and he hated the nickname. In the end, his parents actually didn't like his formal name (what he only goes by) and chose it only for the nickname. I think the nickname should be decided after the birth, so the child can have some say-so. Sorry for the soapbox there!

I see what you're saying and I do agree. Teresa is not a favorite of mine but I don't dislike it. It happens to be my middle name and my husband loves both Tessa and Teresa.

Congrats!I love Teresa/Tessa, and also Tess and Tessie. I don't think they're too far-fetched as Teresa nicknames at all - in fact, I've known a few Teresas who went by Tess. I think Tessa is a gorgeous name, if a bit cutesy, but as you've got Teresa for her to fall back on as an adult then I don't see any problem with using it.Congrats on finding out you're having a girl!
