I used to know someone who had this name. She pronounced it "Nye-luh". She was easily at least in her late 50s, early 60s and it was her mother's name as well. And as far as I know, no one in her family is Hindu.
Not too fond of the name, never really was. Honestly, when I first heard her name, I thought "The h-e-double-hockey-sticks is with that name?". And she turned out to be manipulative and backstabby and a whole lot of things that aren't exactly nice, so it turned me off to the name.
