[Opinions] Nila
A Hindu name meaning "Dark Blue" wdyt? do you like "Nee-Lah" or Nye-Lah" better?
Replies
It reminds me of the cookies "Nilla Wafers"!
I love it but prefer the spelling Neela. I know for sure that neel-uh / nee-luh is the Indian pronunciation there was one at my middle school who was born in Indian. The nye-lah pronunciation also reminds me of Nylon fabric which is just bad. :P
Nila has a nice sound and look to it; exotic, but easy to pronounce. I prfer the NEE-lah pronounciation, personally.
I used to know someone who had this name. She pronounced it "Nye-luh". She was easily at least in her late 50s, early 60s and it was her mother's name as well. And as far as I know, no one in her family is Hindu.
Not too fond of the name, never really was. Honestly, when I first heard her name, I thought "The h-e-double-hockey-sticks is with that name?". And she turned out to be manipulative and backstabby and a whole lot of things that aren't exactly nice, so it turned me off to the name.

Obviously the source of the Nile! lol
