[Opinions] Rain
What do you think of Rain for a girl? It used to be my favorite name some time ago (well about 10 years ago actually). I'm warming up to it a bit.
Do you think it sounds depressing (I know everyone I know has said at least once "da**, I hate rain" when they were out and surprised by a rain shower so I wonder if it would get depressing to hear that as a girl named Rain. I actually think rain is something nice, but I said that sentence quite a few times myself.
Do you think it's too hippy-ish? What kind of middle name would you use?
Do you know anyone named Rain? Boy or girl? I know a guy named Rayne. I also heard of a girl named Rain and another named Raine.
What do you think of Lorraine nn Rain? Better than Rain on its own?

I used to really dislike it, but now it's one of the few nature names I like, though I doubt I'd use it just because there's other names I like better.
I love Rain for a girl and think it can work on its own.
I love the name Rain, only for a girl and only with this spelling. I don't find it depressing at all and think it sounds sweet. It does have a hippy-ish quality to it, but I'm quite fond of that!
I love Rain, and I can only see it on a girl. I've never thought of it as depressing, but I see what you mean with the "I hate rain" thing. But quite honestly, I have a lot of positive connections to rain, too (one of the reasons I like Rain so much).
Rain is so pretty, but Rayne and Raine just look kind of ugly to me. I love the idea of Lorraine nn Rain, but it's not necessarily better than Rain on its own, just different. I don't mind the fact that it's naturey, but at the moment I'd probably use it more as a mn. But if I were choosing a mn for Rain, I'd go with something a little longer and more 'classic' to balance it out. Some ideas:
Rain Eleanor
Rain Victoria
Rain Esmeralda
Rain Jeannine
Rain Maria (not exactly long, but I love this)
Rain Larissa

I love the rain and doubt I have ever complained about it.
the name, however, is rather hippie-ish.

I don't hate Rain...it isn't something I would ever choose and I think there are nicer sounding nature names. But I don't find it a depressing name- I like rain quite a bit as a weather situation.
Rain would need a more formal mn IMO. Something she could fall back on if her fn was too out there for her and something to ground the hippie-ish Rain.
Rain Marguerite
Rain Estella
Rain Beatrix
Rain Arabella
Rain Lavinia
Rain Harriette
Rain Valentina
Rain Charlotte
I have cared for a kid called Rain at work...she was a three year old girl

I think Rain could work on it's own as long as it sounded pretty with the surname. I don't know what you would use for a middle name, though.
I actually love it, but I would only use it as a middle name
I love Rain. It was my favorite name for a girl for years. I don't think it sounds depressing at all, but I suppose that's because I love rain. I always think of either playing and dancing in the rain (which is what I did as a child), or being all comfortable and warm inside while it's raining.
I don't think it's too hippy-ish. If you're worried about that, then I'd say use it as a nn. I would use something stable and long, classic, for a mn. Like Elisabetta.
Lorraine nn Rain is pretty, although I prefer just Rain. I also like Igraine nn Rain.
I don't know anyone named Rain.

Better than Rain on its own? No, I like Rain by itself
