Amandine Marie is an eighteen-year-old French girl. She speaks mostly French, but has some English. She was orphaned at birth and badly abused by her grandparents for most of her life. She has depression and is a recovering alcoholic. Amandine likes music, cats, chocolate and art.
Evan Oliver Ryan is a six-year-old boy from Boston, Massechusets. He has leukaemia and was diagnosed with it at age three. His father died before his birth, and his mother is a recovering alcoholic who could not look after him. If possible she would like to keep in contact with Evan. He is very spirited, and enjoys colouring, toy cars and cartoons.

Thank you for these two wonderful kids. One year has gone by and a lot has happened. Amandine has started community college, but she still lives at home with us. She is doing much better with her depression, but still goes to therapy. She has not had drink since before she came to live with us. We are very proud of her. We are also very proud of Evan who is now in remission. He is such a strong child and we are so lucky to have him. We are hoping his leukemia never comes back.
