[Opinions] Elinor
What do you think of Elinor for a girl? I really like Elinor Christian at the moment, wdyt?Would you spell it Elinor or Eleanor, why?Do you know anyone with the name? Do you think it'll get common? I'm surprised it isn't high on the list and it even lost places compared to last year.Do you like Elinor nn Nell? or Nell on its own?

I like Elinor, but in this family, Eleanora is my favorite.I would DEFINITELY spell it Eleanor, not Elinor. I grew up on an Elinor Rd. Every time I gave out my address I'd have to spell it out for the person. This wasn't such an issue, but if it were my first name (rather than my street) I think it would have been really annoying, especially when people continued to get it wrong.I knew an Eleanor growing up, but no Elinor (apart from my street).Ellie is my favorite nickname for any of these Elinor/ Eleanor/ Eleanora names.

I actually say Elinor and Eleanor differently. The first has more of an "i" (like "him") and the second more of an "uh" ("ugly").I do like them both, however. Shame Eleanor has been incredibly popular around here for the past 20 yrs or so.Christian is male imo. Nell is an okay nn, but I wouldn't use it on its own.

I love Eleanor, Elinor, Eleanor "Nell," Elinor "Nell," and Nell.Alas, I strongly dislike Christian.

I don't really like Eleanor or Elinor. Elinor Christian is alright. I'm just used to Christian on a boy though. I would spell it Eleanor because that looks like the correct spelling to me and that's how everyone I know with the name spells it. My grandmother's name is Eleanor which is one of the reasons I don't like it. It makes it seem dated to me. It's strange though because my greatgrandmother named was Violet and I adore that name. Nell is an alright nickname for Elinor. And I would only use Nell for a nickname. It doesn't seem like it could be a proper whole name. I prefer Nora as a nickname for Elinor.

I don't like Elinor at all. I know it's a real name, but to me it always seems like someone didn't know how to spell Eleanor and just spelt it the way it sounded. I do love Eleanor, though. Christian is completely masculine to me, but I like Eleanor Christine.I can't stand the nickname Nell. It reminds me of something I can't quite place my finger on right now. I also don't like Ellie. I guess if I had an Eleanor, I'd just call her that.

I prefer it spelled Eleanor, though Elinor has its charm too. I like Ellie as a nn.
Christian is 100% male to me, what about Elinor Christiana?

I love Elinor. I'm not so keen on Eleanor because of the "lean" bit. I have known three Eleanors, one old and the other two middle-aged (and there's also the famous British actress Eleanor Bron, a real beauty in her prime) - but the name Elinor/Eleanor is classic and for all ages and times.
Elinor strikes me as prettier, and I think of Jane Austen's Elinor Dashwood. I love Elinor as a form of Eleanor and also as a modern Hebrew name neaning "God is my light".
I don't like Nell. I'd go for Ellie or Nora, but I'd try to avoid a nn because the full name is so elegant and lovely.

I adore Eleanor! It's my favorite girl name. The spelling Elinor is okay, but I like Eleanor better. Elinor Christian is okay, but I dislike Christian. How about Elinor Christine? I have never met an Elinor / Eleanor, which fuels my like for it more. It's been pretty consistent on the pop charts so I don't think it will ever go out of style or become too popular. I really like Nell and Nellie as a nn for Elinor / Eleanor. Not so much on it's on though.
