Some of the most famous American Indians have names that are totally bizarre in today's world, but make sense culturally:

White Man Runs Him
Crazy Horse
Goes Ahead
Hairy Moccasin
Amos Bad Heart Bull
Sitting Bull
Touch the Clouds

I've met kids in spelling bees with last names like Yellow Eagle and such.
