Help[Opinions] can't get past bronx!!

It's not the first time I've seen it used and do people not realize what it means? It is like labelling the kid Ghetto Slum [insert middle name] or Trailer Park Sally!
In the case of my small town, we have one or two streets that are considered 'the bronx' because that is where the not so fortunate families on welfare in housing commission houses and with a million kids each live, a lot of whom turn out to be teenage parents themselves but they sure as hell don't turn around and call their kids "Tobruk Avenue" or the kid would grow up the laughing stock of town. For a 'well off' person in comparison or a celebrity to use such a stupid kind of term as Bronx for a name totally bemuses me!
It doesn't even sound nice regardless of meaning.
