After a little research through various geneology sites:
Lendamine is a very rare name. Since your board designation is "ehtaft", I assume you are asking about the name because you are related to the Lendamine Guild who married
Ezra Wood Taft. Lendamine Guild was a daughter of
Calvin Guild and his wife, Lendamine Draper.
Lendamine Draper was born on March 30, 1780, in Massachusetts, and was the daughter of
Abijah and
Desire Draper.
I cannot find any record of a Lendamine before the birth of Lendamine Draper. The second oldest Lendamine I can find is Lendamine
Avery, born
April of 1791 in
Conway, Massachusetts, the daughter of
John Avery and
Mary Cushman.
The mother of
Desire Foster, Lendamine Draper's mother, was
Desire Cushman. It therefore seems plausible that Lendamine Draper and Lendamine
Avery were related in some way through the Cushman family.
I think there is a good chance that
Abijah and
Desire Draper simply invented Lendamine themselves as a name for their daughter, and that their relatives
John and
Mary Avery copied them. Alternatively, perhaps there was an earlier Lendamine who has not yet been discovered some place in the Cushman family tree. But as this is a name which seems to go back to just one particular New England family, there's a good chance that it is an invention with no other meaning than "created by
Abijah and
Desire Draper for their daughter".
One would have to luck out and find letters or other records from the Draper or Cushman families discussing why Lendamine Draper's parents named her that to get more information, I'm afraid.
