I like it a lot, in fact; it is on my shortlist for boys (if I'm going to have boys sometime in the distant future).
My favorite combo (for the moment) is Hamish Frederick.
As for the whole ham-thing; as someone else has said it is not pronounced like ham. Its HAY-mish.
