Vela just reminds me of the Veela in Harry Potter, unfortunately.
Aquila is a long-time favourite of mine. Very definitely male, and as far as I'm aware the correct Latinate pronunciation is a-KWIL-a. I doubt I'd use it, though it might sneak in as a MN :)
