[Opinions] Mikey!
I know this girl who named her son Mikey. Not Michael but just Mikey. I don't know his middle name though. She told me about it once. She said that she once had to argue with this lady who kept writing his name as Michael on a document. She said, "No his name is Mikey not Michael." lol. What do you think of the name Mikey as a first name. I personally prefer Michael with the nn Mikey. But she didn't like the name Michael just Mikey. What are your opinions?

I really dislike most nn's as given names in general, but esp. childish ones (like Timmy, Jimmy, Billy, etc.). Mikey seems worse than most, imo, though. :-/ On that note, I recently met a woman named Mykey. Makes Mikey on a boy seem a bit better, no? ;)ETA: My ex-fiance's legal name is Tommy but he calls himself Thomas, no nn. He planned on changing legally at some point. Only his immediate family still calls him Tommy.

Mike might have been okay but I can't imagine a grown man being happy getting called Mikey.

I very much dislike Michael and the nickname Mike. Very very much. Mikey is worse than Mike, and to use it as a name on its own...the less said about that the better.

I think Micah would have been better! Mikey is so much like a nn, and childish.

I have a cousin who has a kid called Mikey and i really don't like it, Mikey mouse? It sounds a bit, hm...unclassy, dumb? Yokel-ish?

Mikey is fine as a nickname, but I don't like nicknames as first names. Then the kid won't have a professional sounding name. Although Mikey will still have a leg up on the Aydans and Jaxons with a professional looking name.
