I'd go with Gwendolen, I don't think it will make her feel left out. Its a lovely name, and if you really like the nn Letty, then just use that as Gwendolen's nn name. I knew a David who was called Tom, and an Ernest who was called Peter. If you like Letty, use it.

erm... Tom and Peter might have had something to do with their mn, I knew an Alfred who went by Johnny, because his middle name was John.

Nope.No it didn't Tom was actually David Charles, and Peter was actually Ernest Archibald Maynard!

Weird... I feel bad for the Ernest guy... I would have gone by Peter too... But the David one is beyond me! That's such a nice name!
