For some odd reason I keep thinking Cypress Creek, although I have no idea why.I also had a ex who had a cat named Cypress. I thought it was a cute name for a cat, but the cat was extremely mean. I can't picture it on a child.

Reminds me of Cypress Hill. I don't care for it at all. I think it looks more masculine. Suggestions...Cypress John
Cypress Benjamin
Cypress Nathaniel
Cypress Justin
Cypress Vincent
Cypress William

NiceI've never heard of it as a name before, but both "Cy" and "ess" have got namey associations. Definitely only for a girl - "ess" is not an ending for a boy's name, and botanical names are girl's names (by convention).I'd pair it with something normal, that is unquestionably a woman's name. Cypress Katherine, Cypress Gabrielle ... Maybe something more unusual, like Cypress Romana, Cypress Leontina, Cypress Lucienne.

Strangely enough, I love itReally, really love it. I think it would work better on a girl and I'd pair it with something normal - Cypress Eve would be awesome.Did I say I love it?

Eh. It's not my style, and there are other plant names that I prefer. For some reason, it seems more masculine to me, despite the softer sound. I think, for a middle name, there needs to be a more firm sound because of Cypress' softness.

As a guy, it sounds a bit girlish to me. I think because it ends in ess. Makes me think of princess, empress etc.

Dislike it on a girl. It sounds very masculine to me.On a boy... maybe. I like Cyrus, so it's not too much of a stretch; and I would tolerate Cedar, and it's a tree. So, yes I think Cypress would be ok.I looked at your profile and I like:
Cypress Jude
Cypress James
Cypress DawsonI think it should be paired with a more traditional name. Not related, but oh, I love Gage! I forgot all about that name. I'm adding it to my list.

Don't worry, I won't throw anything:)Well, I added Gage for a boy's name:) But there are some boy's names I see as feminine, such as Avery. What about Judea, Juda, Judith, Dara? I can't think of a feminine form of James besides Jayme/Jaime.
