Just wondering what you think of this name. I looked up this artist on Vh1 from England called Adele and she has an amazingly soulful voice and is quickly becoming a fave new artist of mine. I looked up the name, being the nerd i am lol and found it means Noble in Old German. I like it cause it has a classic feel yet the nick names Addie, Dell, or Ellie could be used with it to make it a little more hip if neccessary. Not sure about middle names...any suggestions? General opinions?

I've loved Adele for years. Reading "Jane Eyre" began it for me. It has a winsome charm for me. I wonder why it isn't more popular. I'm so glad you like the French, one "L" spelling. Del is my favorite nn, but Addie and Ellie work just as well.

A friend's mother is named Adele. I think she's in her late 40s.

It's an ok name, but I prefer Adelaide.

I had a college friend called Adele - she pronounced it Adelee, which I loved. It reminds me of the old-fashioned British 3-syllable pronunciation of Irene, but I think her mother just decided to pronounce it that way because I don't think it's traditional.

I think Adele is a nice name - I also like Adela and (either as a nn or real fn) Della.
I'd pick a three-syllable mn, such as Rosalind, Juliet, Katherine, Caroline, or Madeleine. Or a four-syllable one - Elizabeth or Lavinia.

I love Adele, this spelling only. It's a beautiful, strong, feminine name. (And I love that combination: strong and feminine.)

The Adele combos on my list are Adele Beatrice, Adele Frances, Adele Viviane, and Adele Vivienne.
