I like it. I think it's very cute. I think it works best in the middle name spot, though.

I think it's adorable. Not an old lady's name at all, IMO. It's pretty and unusual.

I used to think this would make a distinctive mn, but now I can see it becoming the next filler, like Rose and Grace have become the new filler mms.

I like some retro-old-fashioned names, like Mabel which has lost its old lady association to me. But Pearl still reminds me of cafeteria workers wearing hair nets.

Perla, on the other hand, I just love. I don't watch American Idol, and have just discovered it.

I love pearls though I'm not normally into bling, so I love Pearl but do regard it as an older person's name though I know a Pearl who is about 30.
Having said that, I think it might be clawing its way back to favour -perhaps as a substitute for Margaret/Penina of the same meaning.
There was a vivacious hispanic Perla contestant on "American Idol" last season and I thought that name was quite zippy.

I like Pearl a lot, especially as a middle name. Adamina Pearl is one of my favorite combos. I don't love it enough to use it, though.

I like it. It was my great-grandma's name and also a my grandparent's friend's name. I see it as being a bit older, but I think it is perfectly fine to use today. I have relatives named Margaret and Margareta (meaning pearl) so I am more likely to use those.

I like the name but not enough to actually use it (at least, not at this moment in time). I don't really associate it with older women. I think it's simple but elegant. Very pretty, imo.

Yes, Pearl is old. I find it darling, but I've been rereading The Scarlet Letter, which may have something to do with it. No, I wouldn't use it myself, at least not as a fn. I would love to meet a little Pearl though.

I dislike Pearl. I think it is one of those names, like Mabel, that are kind of retro-hip because they are so out of fashion, but are actually really ugly and not very good names at all. The Madisons of their day. I do not like precious stones as names because they seem to be tying femininity to superficiality and beauty, although I admit pearls are a bit deeper than a lot of other precious stones. (It's not a stone, I know - idk what to call it though.)

It would be neat to meet one though. And that is all I can say positive about it. I can see it getting popular in a few years.

I don't like it at all. It doesn't have an attractive sound to me, and it has the same connotation for me as it does for Siri. It also reminds me of the little girl in the movie The Night of the Hunter, and while I love that movie, it's a creepy psychological thriller, and not what I would want to be reminded of when calling my daughter in from the playground.

I like it because it's a family name.

When I was about 7 or 8, I had two Snow White dolls. Since there couldn't be two Snow Whites, IMO, I named one Pearl. I used to love the name. Now I'm on the fence about it. I do see it more on older ladies, but I think it could make a comeback.

I wouldn't use it, but I find it darling. It's one of the nostalgic, retro names that I am drawn to.

Yeah, it is old, which is why I'd personally choose it for the mn slot. I'd definitely use it because I think pearls are beautiful and I love what they represent.

I love it, sounds good on any age and yes i would use it.

I love it. There was a character in one of my favorite video games named Pearl, and she was an adorable little girl around 8 or 9, so I can definitely see it on a young child.

ETA: Just remembered that since my name is a form of Margaret, which means Pearl, it could be a more subtle means of honoring if I decided to go that route.

It reminds me of a Midwestern woman with too much make-up, an accent, overly-friendly and just obnoxious. It's one of the very few names that just makes me want to scream.

I love it, particularly for a MN. Very pretty, and uncommon . . . I love it!

I think Pearl is a lovely name for a girl in any stage of life. I think it's complimentary for both young and old (and in between).

I would consider using it, but likely only as a middle name (and that's just because there are so many other girl names I love more than it and would rather use as a first name).

I give this name "points" for being an undersused classic. However the name doesn't have an appealing sound in my opinion. A friend of mine knows two young children(siblings)named Pearl and Olive. Olive in my opinion has the nicer name; it has a nice soft sound to it.
