I think if you ask any question on this board re: names that were male - but are now used for females - you're going to get the answer that it's inappropriate, wrong and ignorant. It's just the nature of this board...For myself - I like the name for both girl's and boy's. I think it's more common on girl's in English speaking countries - which makes me personally prefer it on a boy - but if I lived in Russia - I'd probably prefer it on a girl :) As an aside, one of the girl's I knew named Nikita was Indian, and she said it was a Hindu name? I don't know any more than that - but would be interesting to look up if there is a separate history for the name (oher than the Russian lineage).
