[Surname] How do i pronounce family tree name Aerouant? (breton)
I've been researching my family tree and on my french side i have a lot of Breton, and the family name is Aerouant, does anybody know how to pronounce it? I can't find any information anywhere! Can anyone give me a phonetic pronunciation?

I've heard this name before, it's also the name of the breton flag, and i think it means red dragon or something like that,
ayr-awn or ayr-oo-aan depending on the regional accent i would say.

just a guess...
ah-eh-roo-on, with the final syllable nasalised, not really ending in an 'n' sound.
Especially if there's an accent on the 'e', this is how I would read it out. But I'm not familiar with the surname or anything. Perhaps the best English approximation, for when you want to mention it to people without going into full-on French mode, would be something like "air-oo-ont"?.

I don't think this is a surname.
