[Opinions] WDYTO Bryony?
I just saw Atonement and I was surprised how much the name Bryony (sp. Briony in the movie) appealed to me. Bryony is a type of Eurasian vine, as well as a derivative from the Greek 'to swell.' So, what do you think of the name?

I've liked it, in theory, for years. And hearing it on a real person (or character, at least) in the movie made it a bit more tangible and seems a bit more usable to me. But I'm still not positive about the sound. It sounds so much like Brian + ee, like describing someone as being a lot like Brian. :b

I like Bryony on someone else's child.

I think it's going to become really popular, really soon because of the movie. I'm not a big fan, but it does have a soft sounding.

I like it pronounced BRY (rhymes with eye)-oh-nee, but I've heard that the accepted US pronounciation is BREE-oh-nee, which I think is horrible.

I think it's beautiful and strikes the right balance between unusualness and popularity :)S xx

I think it's very lovely. I would like it a lot better if not for the popularity of all the bree- names these days.

Eh.I can see the appeal but it's not for me. I read an immense amount of British literature and characters named Bryony are always well-behaved, properly and fashionably dressed damsels in distress. It's hard for me to see past that stereotype. I definitely wouldn't mind meeting one, that's for sure.

I adore Bryony/Briony, it's one of my top favourites. I read Atonement years ago and it certainly contributed to my love. The meaning leaves something to be desired, but I still adore it.

I like Bryony but I love Briony. I've read the book Atonement by Ian McEwan and I saw the film so I strongly prefer Briony.
