[Opinions] Emmanuel
Suddenly I've fallen in love with the name. O Come Emmanuel is one of my favorite hymns of all time, and I love the history of the name. I've known a few, and the religious overtones don't bother me at all. I was thinking of Simon Emmanuel. Love some ideas.

I love Emmanuel. I didn't know people consider it to be a religious name until I posted about it. Apparently most people liked it because of its religious connotations. Still I don't think Emmanuel is a religious name, at least not in Sweden (and probably not in other parts of Europe either) I wouldn't hesitate to use it because I know most people would never see it as religious. I guess it's different in the US.

I love the name Emmanuel too! When I first started liking the name I wasn't sure about it considering the name's religious connotations and that I'm not a "religious" person, but I've come to like the name in spite of that.I think that Simon Emmanuel is a great combo (I also like Emmanuel Simon). Other combos with Emmanuel as a first name that I like include Emmanuel Charles, Emmanuel Francis, and Emmanuel Rowan.

I've been liking Emmanuel and Emanuel (got talked into the latter spelling by the board) a lot recently, in spite of being 100% secular. Maybe it's different in the US, but I know a few Emanuel 's who don't come from particularly religious families.
I'd prefer Emmanuel Simon to Simon Emmanuel, Simon is one of those "what's so great about it?" names.

I LOVE Emannuel because of the song and meaning behind it.It's extremely religious so if that doesn't bother you go for it.

I really hope you meant Emmanuel.I love the name because it speaks more to the Jewish faith then to the Christian faith, and has such a pure, beautiful sound. I would probably use it as a middle name - I love the idea of Reuben Emmanuel.

I did, lol sorry abotu that [m]Actually I think it speaks to both faiths equally, it has a lot of meaning to me (are you Jewish by the way...just curious?).I think it's a good middle name especially I have it down as a MN. I agree with you about it sounding beautiful and pure.Simon or Reuben go well with it!

I *love*Reuben Emmanuel (my favorite), Abram Emmanuel, Jonas Emmanuel, and August Emmanuel. Ambrose Emmanuel is awesome, but it's a bit too pretentious for me to actually use. Ditto Raphael Emmanuel.
