It's fine, but I think you should use it on a boy. If you do something to feminize it, then it's not really the same name.

I can't find any variations, but I'd suggest adding an -a, or -e, and making it Gethina or Gethine. I'm not really sure how you'd pronounce either, but they at least look more girly. Can I suggest to you the name Athena? It has a similar look, feel, at least to me, and doesn't have that made up feel because it's 'legitimate'.
