River and Julia just welcomed a baby girl. The news of Julia being pregnant came as a shock both for the Bates and the Waltons, but River and Julia handled it with maturity and now that the baby is born they all feel extremely blessed. Julia and baby Verity have come to live with the Bates, where the parents and the baby have a bedroom and a bathroom of their own; this way, Julia and River can finish their studies with the help of the family. They have decided to get married and move houses as soon as they graduate and find a job, and Verity grows up. Meanwhile, the whole family is happy to have little Verity at home; Winter loves taking care of the baby and Ginny is happy to have someone to whom she can be a "big sister".
To everyone's surprise, Barb and Jess managed to stay together. They split up for almost a year, but then they got together and it seems their relationship is much more mature than before.
After a year of dating in secret, Angel introduced Orlando to the family. Rohan and Winter are happy with her daughter's boyfriend, who is an enthusistic environmentalist just like Angel is.
Two years ago, Gus told his family he is gay. At first, it was hard for Rohan and Winter to accept it, but now they've come to terms with it. Gus has been dating Bastian for three months now, and they seem very happy together. However, they've decided to keep their relationship as a secret (they've only told their family), because they are afraid of what people at school might say.
Some months ago, Winter came home form work and found Mr Whiskers was dead. All the family suffered from his death, especially the triplets, who had found him nearly 16, and the twins, who had grown up with him. They took comfort in the tought that Mr Whiskers had had a long and happy life. They decided to bury him in their garden, below a huge weeping willow.
