Message: "Casper???" - Behind the Name

I have always loved Jasper but Dh hates it....I am starting to think about Casper- I know there is the ghost reference but I really think by the time the child is in school, they will have no ideas who Casper the friendly ghost is/was. I would love some thoughts on the name and reviews of the combos (all middle names are family names and either honour my dad or grandfathers).

I like Casper Thomas best. Casper is on my fave list for boys too. :) Middle names I have on my list for Casper are Ronan and Raiden. Ronan is a family name.

And usually no kids even these days know who Casper the Friendly Ghost is. Usually those under the age of 12 don't know! But adults will probably always think it's strange. I wish Casper Van Dien was more a popular actor... then people would see it differently. :)

Jasper is a fave of mine too, so I don't mind Casper. Casper John would be my fave combo. I like it a lot.

Casper John is the best of your combos, imo. I also love Casper, but DH absolutely refuses ever to consider it because of the ghost thing. But I agree with you that the reference should have faded by the time the child is in school, although older people will still get that connotation from the name. They can get over it. Casper is darling.

Casper is wonderful. Casper John gmv on your poll. It has the perfect balance between "rediscovered, unusual classic" and "an old friendly name." Both names share a warmth and understated strength that are very appealing. They combine beautifully.

His younger brother could be Gordon Thomas. And you could plant a lovely "Gordon Thomas" yellow rose bush in his honor.

The ghost reference is what puts me off the most, but Casper is not a bad name by any means! I may grow to like it in time. Of your combos, Casper John is nicest.

I don't care much for it and can't really get past the ghost reference, however if that doesn't bother you, the mn I prefer is Gordon.

I like the sound a lot, but the ghost thing is still a bit much for me. How about Caspian? That's always been a favorite name of mind and it's fairly similar to Casper.

Some years ago I really loved Casper and Kasper.
I don't love it now but I think it's ok and much better than Jasper.
If I were you, I wouldn't care about the ghost.
So, if both of you like Casper, go for it, but I prefer Caspian which I love.

I also prefer Casper Thomas.

I love the name Casper. It's both elegant and cute, and very handsome as well. If you're concerned about the friendly ghost reference (I wouldn't be, because the cartoon is so old that kids of today hardly know the character) how about Caspar instead?

Out of your combos, I like Casper John the best.
