Magdalene
I like Magdalene very much and considerably more than Genevieve if you put them side by side. I think it has a lot more punch than Genevieve even if they're aesthetically similar in the sense that they're long and, IMO, have a similar sense of femininity.
I agree about the baggage thing, at least my interpretation of what you're saying. :-) I think there's something distinctly different about it from Miriam and Margaret. As old as Magdalene is, its popularity has apparently not risen above "rock bottom" in decades so it doesn't really have any personal associations for me. The only figure that it does bring to mind is Mary Magdalene and she's been getting fairly favorable press lately.
I'd like Lydia Magdalene. ;-)
ETA: I like Miriam and Margaret anyway. I still want someone else to adopt Miriam Noor.
