I think "Maico" is the way that spanish speaking people would write
Michael if they just hear it being pronounced (as in some american TV show or movie).
If you know any spanish, try pronouncing Maico in the spanish way and it will come out as Michael.
So this name comes out of ignorance of English + contact with american/british culture.

Mai is pronounced like May, as far as I have seen. So I am just submitting an educated guess.
