I live in a French-speaking area of Canada, and what interests me in your lists, is that many of the names, especially the mens' names, are in daily use, while some never made it accross the water from France.
Thierry, for example, is almost never used here, though I have a relative in France named that.
Yvonnes and, especially, Yvettes, are thick upon the ground-Yvette, especially, has a political signifigance..it's come to mean a conservative, at-home housewife.

Yvette as a conservative, at-home housewife? Wow. That's definitely not the picture in my mind. Good information. Thanks. I picture an Yvette more as a young coquette.

Thanks. I love Desiree, Augustin and Marcellette. One thing: I messed up and put Hilaire as a girl's name. It's a boy's name of course. I must have been thinking about my sister Hilary. (I wasn't logged in when I posted it or I would have changed it right away.)

I'm no expert at all on French names, but I know that Solange is a French name. It was the name of Scarlett O'Hara's French grandmother in Gone With the Wind. No one else mentioned it, so I thought I would.
