The very first thing that I think of is Benedict Arnold. I like the name in theory, but that association turns me off to it. I would be afraid that he would be teased relentlessly when they study the Revolutionary War in school.
If you go with a nn, I think that Ben is the best of the bunch.

Yeah, actually I hadn't even thought of Benedict Arnold as a problem, but we just covered the Revolution in school, so its really fresh in my mind. I just can't decide whether I find the association with Benedict Arnold overpowering.
