...Makes a fine name on its own. Puts me in mind of Hemingway and his Nick stories, and Nick Carraway of The Great Gatsby--it feels a bit throwback to me in the nicest way.
Something about anything with the nn Nick immediately puts me off, perhaps since I knew plenty of Nicholas "Nick"s, and they were, without exception, total jerks. But Nick on its own has real possibilities. It's, to borrow a phrase, more debonnaire and fun--Nick could be suave without being Rico Suave.
