[Facts] Nailah/Nala
Hi, I came across the name Nailah and I was wondering if it is of either African or Arabic origins. Also, I've always wondered as to wether Nailah was the same as Nala? And also are they both pronouced as NAH-lah? Thanks so much.-M.T. Lo que será, será.

Na'ilah is an Arabic name, the feminine of Na'il, meaning "one who acquires [what they want]", or "winner", according to the Oxford Dictionary of First Names, by Hanks, Hardcastle, and Hodges, and Digest of Muslim Names by Fatimah Suzanne Al Ja'fari.Because of the apostrophe, I would assume that Na'ilah is pronounced something like "nah-ee-lah", but I'm not sure where the accent falls.

PronunciationNa'il can either be pronounced like "Nehl" (which sounds weird considering general Arabic pronunciations, but I know a Palestinian lady whose son is named Nail) or NAH-il. Na'ilah is NAH-ih-lah, the "ih" being a glottal stop.
