I don't even know who/what "Bill and Ben" are. What is it?

I don't think Peter and Benjamin together would be a problem. They are both common names.

Bill and Ben are flower pot men

They've been going since the 1950s(I think), although they've changed them now into colour. http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/billandben/
