There are dozens of possible kanji spellings, with different meanings, for Shiori. Written with the kanji meaning "bookmark," it tied for 78th most popular girls' name in Japan in 2006, so it's most definitely in use. It sees to be rising too, as it was 96th in 2005. Unfortunately, I don't have data prior to that.
