Kira ("KEER-a") is the transliteration of Kiril ("keer-EEL"), the Russian form of Cyril.I've never heard of Kyra coming from Cyrus, but now I know. Thanks!

I think you meant Kira is the feminine form of Kirill, which is the Russian form of Cyril. I don't know why this site doesn't mention that. It says Kira is a form of Kyra, but Cyril and Cyrus are two different names.Grand Duchess Kira Kirillovna of Russia was a famous bearer. Her name was usually transliterated as Kyra, though.
