My boyfriend works at a Thai restaurant (owned, run, and mostly staffed by Thai people) and one of his bosses is named Porntip. Not like 'porn' is ever going to be my favorite name element, but at least in cases with names like Isabella Amporn I'm glad I can consider that maybe her parents were Thai or something, like you said. I'd be willing to give that name the benefit of the doubt, too. :-) Call me hypocritical but I can handle that kind of cultural relevance more easily than one that approves of, say, Sommer Storm Huntress.
