[Opinions] they are getting trashier and trashier

If we wonder why young girls are dressing like hookers at ten and trolling for sex on the net at twelve, look no farther than some of these names
Ace Jason-Michael: Ace Jace, huh?Stone Daniel: Why, what crime has Daniel committed?Arden Harry: *howls* Hard 'n' Hairy! Woo-hoo!Bayzil Andrian: Couldn't decide between Adrian and Andrew. Couldn't resist that tryndee y in Basil, either.Brimwin Connor: Phony made-up pseudo-Celtic faerie name.Christian Blue: Liek Prussian Blue, the twin white supremacist girl band?Faden Taudvin: Fadin' to some color I can't imagine, but I bet it's taupe and tawdry.Huck Harrison: Huck: the sound of a hiccup in the middle of a coughing fit. But it will prove endlessly entertaining when the other kids play rhyme games with it.Jack Fox: A male fox?Presley Erin: They probably have a big Elvis on black velvet painting in their trailer. And really wanted a girl.Remy Gael: They sound like they wanted a girl too.Seaton Andrew: Seatin' Andrew far away from the other kids' butt jokes.Theaegan Goulet: The French/tryndee version of goulash.Zen Leedom: Zen lead 'em into temptation...A Precious Diamond: Screams trashy if ever anything did.Ainslee Bhictoria: Another psuedo-Irish name!Alden Bell and Alden Hathaway: Two shery-drunk ex-socialites living ina decrepit mansion in New England.Amber Olive: It's great on salad.Auden Fairbarren: She's fair, but she's barren.Brooklynn Marcedies: A really sketchy car dealershi in Brooklyn. Probably a chop shop.Caledonia Rose: The tryndee Celtic vocal group little Ainslee Bhictoria's and Brimwin's parents were inspired by.Caraboo Grace: Aka, the Moose. God help her if she grows up fat and clumsy. And that boo name is going to age pretty fast. Come to think of it, a caribou isn't even graceful.Dakota Sioux: Lily-white, blonde, blue-eyed child living in Connecticut, but her parents think they're "part Indian." Never mind which Indian tribe, choose the one that sounds cutest.Ezra Hunter: Her parents really wanted a boy.Farrow Julia: To farrow means to have a litter of pigs. So Julia's mom is a sow.Grace Kelly: Not again!Heather and Holly: I knew two sisters, not twins though, by these names in middle school. They both got pregnant around the age of thirteen and haven't stopped since, so I've heard.Isabella AMporn: I'm going to assume Amporn is an Asian name and the parents are actual Asians, but still...Jameson Hall: The prep school her daddy was thrown out of for drinking.Madigan and Keating: Attorneys at law.
Personal injuries their specialty.Montana Jade; Fastest floozie in the wild west!Sapphyre Skye: Star of Naughty Nurses Naked in Nantucket.Sedona Rose: Montana Jade's hot sister from Arizona.Sommer Storm Huntress: Does a really hot scene with Sapphyre Skye.

AmpornMy boyfriend works at a Thai restaurant (owned, run, and mostly staffed by Thai people) and one of his bosses is named Porntip. Not like 'porn' is ever going to be my favorite name element, but at least in cases with names like Isabella Amporn I'm glad I can consider that maybe her parents were Thai or something, like you said. I'd be willing to give that name the benefit of the doubt, too. :-) Call me hypocritical but I can handle that kind of cultural relevance more easily than one that approves of, say, Sommer Storm Huntress.

You know, I'm sorry, but I really think that the idea that "A Precious Diamond" is trashy just shows a lot of ignorance of African-American culture. This is certainly not a name that is meant to have any sexual connotations. Your little exercise to me just proves that ANY name can be "trashed" by someone who's determined to disrespect it, not that the names themselves are "trashy."Of course, YMMV.

It's trashy, and reminds me of a stripper

I'm Black and I saw that name as trashy, regardless of her ethnicityIf the little girl was Caucasian or Hispanic, the name wouldn't have been any less tacky or cutesy. I mean, this kid is going to have to grow up with this name (hmmm I wonder if her parents even gave a thought about that). I think it's tacky, her parents apparently don't and it's just a difference of opinion and personal taste. As an African American, sometimes I don't even understand what a parent was going for when they named their precious child Princess or something (needless to say, these names aren't only given to African American children)...I guess that makes me ignorant of my own culture then.

I didn't look at her pictureAnd did not know she was black. Not that it would have changed my reaction to the name if I had known it.A Preiouc DiamondMy Little DarlingSommer Storm HuntressThose ae cutesy phrases, not names.

Good thing you don't live in China, then, where almost everyone has a name which is a phrase chosen by their parents for its meaning, many of which you probably would find "cutesy".

I'm very glad I don't live in ChinaBut I'm sure that even in China, there are phrase names that Chinese people in general find cutesy, overdone or follish. It's not just us Ugly Americans.

Have we forgotten that it's an opinions board?I see where you're going with this -- Rox's dislike of cutesy theme names somehow makes her less cultured or worldly. Correct me if I'm wrong, but your passive and somewhat condescending approach here can be confusing to us blue collar Americans. Funny, you're doing what you condemned her for. And on the subject of cutesy theme phrase names -- they don't have more or less merit than any other names, and Rox was expressing her dislike, as often happens on an Opinions board. If she disliked Beatrice Stella as a combo, would there be this reaction? Why has this sparked such controversy? She didn't make any comments on the race or socioeconomic status of Ms. Diamond in the first place. She thought the name was tacky, cheesy, lame. Big deal.
