Ginny is usually a nn for Virginia. Could also be short for Georgina, Genevieve, Imogene/Imogen, Ginette, Regina or Geneva. It's reallya pretty odl-fashioned, dated nn.
Winnie is how it's usually spelled, and yes, it is a nn for Winifred. It's not very common at all here in theu US.
Strangely, I know a pair of sisters named Jenny and Winnie. Jenny is my age and Winnie is about five years older. As far as I know, those are their full names. They're Chinese, so those names might be sort of Americanized versions of their Chinese names.
