[Opinions] Ginny and Winny
so are there any other names that could have the nn ginny? im not really digging ginerva, but ginny's fantastic. also, it made me think of the name winifred, (sp?) and the nickname winny. is that a real nickname for that name, or did i just make it up?

Ginny / Ginnie is a delightful nn. Ginevra ("ji-NEV-ra") is gorgeous; it's the Italian form of Jennifer. But if you need other ideas:
Virginia
Eugenia / Eugenie ("yoo-ZHEN-ee")
Regina
Gina
Imogen ("IM-uh-jen")
Jennifer / Genevieve
Ginger
Iphigenia ("if-i-je-NIE-a")
Georgina / Georgine
A similar nn you might like is Juni, from Juniper. Off-beat, but cute, no?
Winny / Winnie is an adorabel nn for Winifred. Love it.

Yes Winny is a nn for Winifred though it's usually spelled Winnie (like Winnie the Pooh). Anyhowginny could be a nn for Virginia and Ginger.
Ginny is usually a nn for Virginia. Could also be short for Georgina, Genevieve, Imogene/Imogen, Ginette, Regina or Geneva. It's reallya pretty odl-fashioned, dated nn.
Winnie is how it's usually spelled, and yes, it is a nn for Winifred. It's not very common at all here in theu US.
Strangely, I know a pair of sisters named Jenny and Winnie. Jenny is my age and Winnie is about five years older. As far as I know, those are their full names. They're Chinese, so those names might be sort of Americanized versions of their Chinese names.

In addition to the ones already listed I plan to use Imogen nn Genny. But I'm worried about having sisters Penelope "Penny" and Imogen "Genny" I think Ginny and Winny is just as bad.
I don't know about any other names but i have a friend who's name is just Ginny, i think it's a really nice name and doesnt need another name to be a nickname for
It's Ginevra, not Ginerva, if you're thinking of the HP Ginny.
You could use Ginette, Ginger, Georgina, Regina, Virginia, Genevieve, Genevra or Genista, or basically anything with ge- or gi- in it.
I'm currently adoring the sound of Ginny (because of HP, of course), and if I have a daughter named Jean, which is my #1 favourite for girls, she may well be nicknamed Jinnie as well as Jeannie.
Winifred nn Winnie is really cute, but I don't like the spelling Winny.

Ginger
Genevieve
Gineva
I have heard of several Winifred's with the nn Winny. I think it is really cute!

If Ginny is from HP, It's Ginevra, not Ginerva.
Virginia would be the obvious choice for Ginny.
Winny for Winifred is legit.

Because of Hp, of course. I admit I like the full name Ginevra Ginerva. I hate Virginia for some reason.
