One should remember that the factory was named after its founder, who was part of the prominent Lowell family in Massachusetts, and the original use of Lowell as a given name for males was in their honor, especially in regard to the poet James Russell Lowell.

Ah, I was wondering why this name reminded me of textiles. (Well, or history class, at least.)As the the original poster's question, I quite like it. I've never really thought about it much before now, but it's actually really nice.
