It's Pretty...but I'm sorry I thought of syrup right away.

I think it's gorgeous. I have a friend named Jemima Elizabeth, so I'm biased :) Jemima often goes by Jem, which I think is cute. She appreciates the meaning and does love her name, if not her mn (she's quite the tomboy!)

I love it. It has a lovely meaning and its a shame that the syrup is still such a strong association in the US. Calum, Callum, Columba, and Colm also mean dove, if you really want the meaning.

I love Jemima. Beautiful name, lovely meaning. There's that Aunt Jemima thing, but, honestly, how are we supposed to get over racial problems if we just avoid them? I'd love to see this on a little girl.

In fact my first DD will be Xanthe Lyric Jemima (future Dh can take a running jump if he thinks thats going to change ;) I really like the sound, the meaning and the potential nn Jem. I have it as a mn simply because there are other names I like more as fn's, but I really do love Jemima. It's spunky and different.

I know in the US, however, there's a problem with the Aunt Jemima association- someone always brings it up to me. It's not a porblem in Australia, but I think only you can judge wether this would be a problem in your area. Lovely name.

It always reminds me of Jemima Puddleduck. Also, the nickname Jem would most likely be unavoidable, and I don't like that either. The meaning is lovely though.

However, the racial connotations that come with the name is something I cannot and will not have my child deal with. There's too much baggage to the name to me and I think it has the potential to offend.

I quite like it, my cousin Jemma is sometimes called this by people :)

I love it! Despite the fact that the only Jemima I've known was b**chy.

I always think of Aunt Jemima and her pancakes. Either way, I don't really like the sound of it. It does have spunk, I must admit, but I highly doubt it's something I'd ever use myself.

Very sweet in an old-fashioned, but certainly not old, way. I think it's darling. I've also been liking Jerrica and Jerusha lately.
