The names you chose are fine for twins. I have 6 kids have yet to see any piece of mail that comes to them addressed as just their initials and then surname, so I don't buy that complaint. The names are completely different except for the initials. It's not as if you named them Ashley and Ashlynn or Eric and Erica.

Alexander James is okay, but I only really like the feminine form of Alexandra. Ashlyn Janella is not my style & IMHO it doesn't measure up to the classic style of the other combo.

I think you named your children what they were meant to be named! Who cares what other people think ultimately? It's fun to play around on here, esp. BEFORE you have the baby (in this case babies) but after, it's pretty much a done deal. Alexander and Ashlyn are great names for twins.....and if people don't think so, don't worry about it.... People become their name, and nothing else would have been right. Congratulations on your newest arrivals!

I like Alexander James and don't really care for Ashlyn, but Ashlyn Janella is a pretty ok combo. Unlike the others I think this AJ theme is ok as long as the names aren't as similar as Alexander James and Alexandria Jamie or something that close. And once again Congratulations! ^_^

I like Alexander James, and I prefer the spelling Ashlynn. But, I'm completely against the naming theme you've created, as it's very tacky and immature looking to me. I dislike twins having same initial first names and middle names, much less them both being the same at the same time. I'm sorry to be blunt.
