[Opinions] Apollonia?
I was going through my family tree, with all the Annas, Hannahs, Margarets, Barbaras, Marias, etc. when I came upon Apollonia (appa-LONE-ya). Apollonia has been a favorite of mine for a long long time. I think Gwyneth Paltrow should have named her daughter Apollonia and used Apple as a nickname. I really like Apollonia Isolde, Apollonia Lucienne, Apollonia Deirdre and Apollonia Laurel.
Thoughts? Comments? Opinions? Combos? Concerns?

I've loved Apollonia for over a decade now--ever since my maternal grandmother gave me one of my many books of saints and I read about the story of St. Apollonia. My younger sister will likely take Apollonia as her Confirmation name, since Apollonia's story is an excellent one about standing up for one's faith (and the saint's feast day is on her birthday). How do you beat throwing yourself in a bonfire to keep others from sinning by pushing you in?No combos at the moment, but I'm afraid none of yours appeal to me in the slightest.Array

Apollonia does sound sort-of nice, but I wouldn't name my child this. I don't mind Apollonia Lucienne.

Neat!Someone posted Pola earlier and I noticed that Pola Negri's name appears to be short for Apollonia. It does sound heroic -- and in a non-overbearing way when there's a more familiar form involved.

It's very strong and courageous sounding. Really liking Apollonia Isolde & Apollonia Deirdre.
