I've never heard it before, but I think I've seen it on girls a couple of times. I prefer Shai for a boy. I also like Shaia / Shaya for a girl :)

The actor Shia LeBeof (I cannot spell his ln for the life of me) pronounces it "Shy-uh."

Shia LaBeouf is the spelling :-]

And yes, it is pronounced "SHY-uh"
