I really like the sound of it (AY-fuh, correct? like
Eva but with a softer v/f sound). Very pretty and peaceful. It makes me think of a light breeze blowing over a flower-filled pasture. I think that preserving the original spelling would be very nice if it honors or represents a family member or your ethnic heritage. The spelling may cause confusion for the child, especially while in school. I have a name that is pronounced differently than it is spelled phoenetically and as an adult still have to spell my first name for people. I love my name but still wish my mother had picked a simpler spelling.
